On the 24th of June, 2020, the Chant d’Oiseau de Cotonou hosted a meeting of MFI heads in Benin to promote gender equality and environmental protection.

According to Mr. Ignace C. DOVI, Director of the Professional Association of MFIs in Benin (Consortium Alafia), “there are still gender-related disparities in the microfinance sector in Benin and in particular within MFIs themselves, … and these disparities cannot be corrected without concrete actions on the part of the institutions’ principal leaders.” He ended his speech by drawing participants’ attention to the fact that environmental protection deserves more attention from MFIs, as this can lead to multiple positive effects.
