As part of I[SR]’s ongoing Environmental & Social Responsibility Initiative (ESRI), we continue our support of the Shosholoza Project, a Cape Town based social organization, founded as a community volunteer association whose purpose is to provide youth from the southern suburbs of Cape Town with football development and mentoring, with the aim of exposing them to the potential of sports as a catalyst to stay in school and to seek educational paths that can lead to sports-related careers.
This past month, during COVID-19 lockdowns in South Africa, Shosholoza youth were unable to attend school. In order to keep them engaged in their educational development, the Shosholoza Project established the Shane Siljeur Educational Fund, honoring I[SR]’s own Shane Siljeur who recently passed away from a Covid-19 related illness and who was one of the founders of the Shosholoza Project. The Fund is providing support for online and telephonic tutoring in subjects such as mathematics, statistics, economics and science.
