Visa, the world leader in payments technology, just opened its regional headquarters in Abidjan strengthening its presence in West and Central Africa. In a statement by the firm, this move is seen as an, “investment aimed to strengthen its presence in the region, targeting mobile payment and e-commerce, with the region’s local governments, financial institutions and merchants”. The new Abidjan office, the fifth in sub-Saharan Africa – after Johannesburg, Nairobi, Rwanda and Lagos – covers 18 francophone and lusophone countries in West and Central Africa.
