Inclusion [Social Ratings] today released a newly assigned Social Performance & Impact Rating (SPIR) on the Cambodian Community Savings Federation (CCSF), a microfinance institutions (MFI) located in Battambang, Cambodia.
CCSF’s Social Mission is “To provide affordable financial services nearby to the members, thus improving their living standard and contributing to the social and economic development of their local communities.” It seeks to empower low-income families in Cambodia by building a network of Community Based Microfinance Organisations (CBMIFOs).
Inclusion [Social Ratings] assigned CCSF an SPIR of SPIR4+ following on-site due diligence of the organization’s operations and interviews with customers and staff. A SPIR4+ rating indicates that an MFI’s infrastructure and processes show some adherence to operating in the best interests of its clients, and that this is among its priorities. The “+” qualifier indicates that the MFI is at the highest level of that rating category and its policies and strategies are showing improvement, which could lead it into the next rating category within the short to medium term. An SPIR4+ rating is consistent with an MFI that:
- adheres to good practice on some of the key SPIR factors,
- has weak information systems, internal controls and procedures relating to the information provided for the SPIR,
- • Mantiene ciertos estándares en lo referente a prácticas de protección al cliente.
Inclusion [Social Ratings]’s SPIR on CCSF is based on Inclusion [Social Ratings]’s Social Performance Rating Methodology. An SPIR measures social performance on a fifteen-point scale, in which SPIR1+ is the highest grade and SPIR5-, the lowest.
